The enigma of alchemy takes on sinuous forms in visible space. Captivating gestures brought about by the anxiety of oncoming death, shown with a boldness that justifies life, even though it be just for an instant, unaware of the passing of time but searching for the future with the ingenuity of new resurgence. A fluctuating, ambiguous and untameable desire expressing itself in expressions beyond reason. Time measured in meditation, opening up cracks and lost in materia, scrutinizing to find the balsam of colour, surviving in the imperishable present. In order to capture this one must know the past, live the present and believe in the future. Faced with nothing, everything takes on importance, each gesture is a sign of life. This is the origin while everything vanishes and is reduced to a meagre supposition. Light has no preconceptions. It is the umbilical cord that nourishes mind images, like the soul that escapes non-existence, perpetuating itself on canvas, creating a world with the brush, spatula and hands. It is an idea of birth, growing with visual contemplation and eventually ending in a non-conceptual dawn. Simplicity rejects the forced efforts because this hurts the soul and its ethereal life would be succumbed in an attempt to accepted the imposed forms. Each brushstroke, each blot, each scratch, is all part of an experience or an intuition. Progress is a consequence of regress, it is that which makes reflection possible in order to give transcendence to the mysterious world which surrounds the seeking look of vulnerable contemplation. Amat, in his painting , does not pursue wholeness; he selects segments of existence which point to a possibility. He claims the right to fragment, opening up windows in a world of materia, showing that perspectives on life are endless. Just like excavating in search of fire or sea: the search for nature is uncontrollable, just as feeling knows no dogmas. If we expect coherence we may find disagreement. Expression, controlled by the brush escapes tedious waiting and is cast into the abysms of space, making contact with the material for an irreversible existence; it is a rough incrustation culminating in fresh energy in an unnamed brand. Earth is split, it slides, pushed along by decision, carrying is own weight creating a rugged surface which observes from the its mound the silence exhalation of colour. Natural nudity spills over the canvas in a generous gestation, accomplice to restlessness, allowing shapes and scars in the space of time, the sooty creator of shadows, nameless signs, impetuous gestures, searching for their place in a plural and permissive cosmos. It is the reappearance of an announced birth, the freeing of an image, the liberation of an image never completely without its whim of revelation. A window showing us a world of subtleties where we are free to create and nourish our thoughts; The less preconceptions the greater the pleasure. Amat accepts and questions. His works look at us offering the possibility of a meeting in space without horizons, where words are few and nature is a symbol. We are invited to be the creators of what we see. Contemporary art breaks away from rigidity and routine. Unknown ideas are incorporated causing us to react, establishing a change of progressive growth. It opens the door of intellectual games and reflection. Contemporary art does not hide anything, it shows part of the subconscious. It invite us to think for ourselves and it needs our visual contemplation to make real its possibilities. Amat in his work attempts to widen the possibilities of expression in what is apparently known, where we are active participants on the wheel of innovation where looks are crossed creatinga a fulfilled existence. Imagination, its unconditional ally in the game of thoughts, its completely and uncontrollably free. Otherwise it would be condemned to failure and would end up destroying itself in the attempt. To be able to create and freely observe we need to rid ourselves of preconceptions and prejudices because these could become our worst enemies, preventing us from entering and meeting contemplative space. We all know that in the past, and we don’t need to go so far back , any new idea that threatened our pre-established life routines was rejected. This spirit of inflexibility is something we need to free ourselves from in order to approach the unlimited resources of our feelings, thereby gaining access to a world of transformation and independence. Intellectual nourishment may be expresed in many ways and contemporary art is one of them.
